Celeriac Prinz is a fast-growing, hardy, and versatile variety with excellent flavour and a smooth, pale skin. It’s especially resistant to bolting and produces reliably good results whether you’re growing an early crop under cover or a later one out in the open. Harvest can begin as early as July. This is a top-quality variety – and we only have a limited supply, so don’t miss out!
For an early crop: Sow in modules in February with warmth, then plant out under cloches and fleece once large enough to handle. Keep them protected until after the last expected frost, gradually acclimatising to outdoor conditions. You can begin harvesting from July onwards.
For an autumn/winter crop: Start seeds in modules from February to April. After the last frosts, harden off and transplant into open ground in late May or June. Plant with the base of the stem at soil level, keep well watered in dry spells, and mulch if possible. A weekly liquid feed will help boost root development. Remove ageing leaves to expose the swelling root. Harvest from September through to the end of December.
