Cauliflower Snow Crown

Snow Crown is mild, vigorous and quick to mature, making it a top choice for early cauliflowers. The sweet-flavoured, domed heads can reach around 20 cm across. Large, loose leaves give good protection and can be tied easily for blanching if needed. These are summer cauliflowers at their best.

SOW: January to March with warmth (20/21C), April to June in coldframe or direct. Seed depth 15–20mm in pots, germination about 1 week.  Be ready to transplant 6 weeks from sowing.
GROW: transplant final position in firm, fertile ground. Snowcrown likes 40-45cm spacing. Regular watering is essential for steady uninterrupted growth. When the heads begin to form (5-7cm) tie the outer leaves loosely over the top, allow another 10-14 days then cut the curds when they are tight and firm – don’t leave them on the plant too long. 
ENJOY: tasty raw in a salad or with dips or cooked.  We also like cauli with spicy flavours – roasted with turmeric, cinnamon for warm sweetness or with smoked paprika.
