Marion F1 is a sweet, flavour-packed variety with neat, cylindrical roots around 15cm long – no wonder it holds an RHS Award of Garden Merit. In mild areas it can be grown and harvested almost year-round, but for most gardeners, sowing from April to July will give you a harvest stretching into late autumn, right up to the end of November.
SOW: 10mm deep from April to July (dig the soil well first & sow sparingly to avoid the need for too much thinning). Sowing after late June can help avoid carrot fly trouble. In mild areas with protection Marion can be sown in February/March and October/November (& overwintered)
GROW: keep moist and weed free – they don’t like the competition. Marion can be harvested between 12&20 weeks from sowing (a little longer at cooler times of the year when sown early or late).
ENJOY: tender and super sweet fresh from the garden. If you’ve grown more than you can eat, just slice or dice and freeze in portions – they cook beautifully straight from frozen.
