Flyaway F1 has earned its place as one of our most popular carrots, and it’s easy to see why. Expect broad, stump-ended roots with a rich orange colour, smooth skin, and consistently sweet flavour. You can start pulling them from around 12 to 18 weeks after sowing.
This variety is also bred to be much less attractive to carrot fly – a real bonus if you’ve struggled with them in the past. If you want a carrot that’s both reliable and resilient, Flyaway’s a solid choice for your patch.
SOW: at no more than 10mm deep from March to early July, for early sowings warm the soil with the cloches before sowing or wait for warmer weather. Remember to dig the soil thoroughly. Sow sparingly to avoid the need for too much thinning.
GROW: allow 12-18 weeks before pulling. Keep moist and weed free – they don’t like the competition.
EAT & ENJOY: always best when pulled fresh from the garden. Can be stored in a poly bag in the fridge for up to 2 weeks. To Freeze - slice or dice larger carrots, freeze baby carrots whole, blanch for 3 minutes, plunge in cold water, drain and pack into convenient sized potions.
