Earliest of All is scrummy, speedy, and British-bred—so it handles our weather with no fuss. It forms compact heads that can be close spaced, making it great for smaller plots. Sow early under cover and you could be picking by late May.
SOW: from February (with protection) to April, start seeds 10-15mm deep in modules or pots and plant out when large enough to handle
GROW: early transplants may need protection from hard frosts and late snow! Close spacing will give you smaller heads. The first small heads from an early sowing should be ready from May. The main harvest is between June and August.
ENJOY: we prefer to steam our cabbage, but you can cook it in boiling water. Fresh cabbage can be stored in a poly bag for up to a week in a fridge. To Freeze – shred or cut, blanch for 1 minute, plunge into cold water and drain.
