Novantina cannot be described as slow - 90 days is just over 12 weeks (can be cut younger). It gives this variety time to develop a deeper flavour. It is particularly useful for taking your harvest into the summer when the drier conditions are not so suitable for sowing Raab and for taking your crop into the autumn too.
SOW & GROW: undercover sow this from late winter onwards. Without protection sow from April to September. Aim for about 15cm spacing - closer if you prefer to harvest young. Try to avoid sowing in hot dry weather during the summer. Ready after about 90 days (can be cut younger). If you cut the tops then the lower stems may resprout. When the plant becomes tougher re-sow and start again.
EAT & ENJOY: its leaves, shoots and small florets. Although it is not widely grown in this county it is one of the worlds most used vegetables: from the Italians use as a starter served simply with oil and garlic and in pasta dishes to Oriental stir fries we are sure you will enjoy it too.
