As an AGM winner Pablo F1 simply oozes quality. Look forward to a high yield of tasty deep red beets with smooth skins. Lift some of them early to pop into salads: the remainder can be left to grow on to a larger size as they won’t turn woody, instead they retain their delightful flavour and texture. Price for 50 seeds
SOW your beetroot seeds 10-20mm deep. Use cloches to warm the soil for early sowings (that is during February to April or a little later in colder areas). Once your soil has started to warm (from April in milder areas) you can sow without protection. Sow seed every 4-6 weeks for a continuous supply of beets
GROW: beet seeds are in fact a cluster and will require thinning, alternatively pull some for use when young & leave the rest to grow on. These thinning can be eaten in salads. Keep your beetroot weed free and try not to let the soil dry out.
ENJOY: pull some of your Pablo harvest for use as baby beets or for pickling. The rest can grow on without fear of them becoming woody. To Freeze – cook until tender, rinse, drain, dry, peel & cut off roots, freeze small beets whole, slice or dice larger ones.
