Armeria maritima 'Alba' forms tidy evergreen mounds that become covered in crisp white pompom flowers from spring into summer. The fresh white blooms brighten rockeries, borders and coastal gardens, while the compact plants stay neat all year round. Tough, reliable and easy to grow, this is a plant that asks for very little and rewards you with months of flowers for both pollinators and the vase.

🌸 Flowering: April to August
📏 Height: 15 to 20cm
🌿 Perennial
💧 Drought tolerant once established

Sow: from March to June, covering the seed lightly with vermiculite. Germination usually takes around 3 to 4 weeks at 15 to 18°C, although it can sometimes be a little erratic, so don't be too quick to give up.

Grow: happiest in full sun in well-drained soil. Poor, sandy or gravelly soils suit this plant perfectly and, once established, it is both drought tolerant and highly salt tolerant, making it an excellent choice for coastal gardens. Rich soils encourage softer growth and fewer flowers, so resist the temptation to spoil it.

Enjoy: we like it edging paths, spilling between paving or tucked amongst herbs and alpine-style planting. The bright white flowers seem to light up the garden and are just as useful indoors, whether displayed fresh in a bud vase or dried for later arrangements
