Tagates Starfire Mix

Tagetes Starfire Mix creates a lively, eye-catching display with masses of small, single blooms in gold, yellow, and rich mahogany—many with striking bicolour patterns. These sit on compact mounds of fine, feathery foliage that bring soft texture as well as colour. A brilliant, low-maintenance option for borders, containers or edging, and particularly attractive to pollinators.

SOW
From February to April, sow on the surface of seed compost in trays and cover lightly with perlite, vermiculite or a fine layer of compost. Pop the tray in a plastic bag or propagator and keep at around 18–20°C. Germination usually takes 1–2 weeks. Pot on into modules or small pots once large enough to handle.

GROW
When seedlings reach about 10cm tall, harden off and plant out at 15–20cm apart. They like a sunny spot and will flower for ages with regular deadheading — great for edging veg beds or tucking into containers.

ENJOY
The petals have a subtle citrus flavour—perfect for scattering on salads or fish dishes. Plant a patch near your veg garden and enjoy the bonus of visiting bees and beneficial insects.
