There’s a first time for everything, and this February marks our very first pea trio. It’s a simple way to enjoy a longer pea harvest without any extra effort. First early peas mature faster than second earlies, and both are quicker than maincrop varieties. Sow them all at the same time and they’ll crop in a natural sequence, keeping fresh peas coming over a longer period.

You’ll also save a bit compared with buying them separately, while growing peas that are far sweeter than anything you’ll find in the shops. Fair warning though, home-grown peas rarely make it as far as the kitchen. They’re at their very best straight from the pod.

Karina – fabulously sweet & very productive. Strong, vigorous plants grow to 55 to 75cm tall and carry plenty of plump pods, each packed with 8 to 10 peas. Ready in just over 11 weeks.

Jubilee – a reliable and flavourful second early pea. Plants flower strongly and produce well-set double pods on tidy plants reaching 60 to 70cm. Ready in around 14 weeks.

Terrain – A very sweet, heavy-cropping maincrop pea, producing two pods per node. Its nectar-rich flowers are a real draw for pollinators. Plants grow to around 90cm, and you can also make a later sowing for harvests in October or November.

Sow once, harvest for weeks, and enjoy peas at their absolute best. This trio makes it easy to grow a steady supply of sweet, home-grown peas, even if you’ve never grown them before.
