NOVEMBER’S QUICK QUARTET

Shorter days call for speedy growth and this quick quartet will start feeding you in as little as four weeks from sowing. The weather might be less than stellar outdoors but you can still grow a fresh little feast on your windowsill this November. A lovely way to keep your gardening spirit going while the kettle’s on.
Quinoa – perfect for windowsill November. The mild flavoured leaves have a hint of nuttiness and are packed with nutrients; some even call it a superfood. Delicious in salads, sandwiches, smoothies or lightly cooked. (400 seeds)
Red Carpet – rich red from the very first growth with a mild mustard flavour when young. Sow in pots at this time of year or transplant a few under cover for larger, spicier leaves later on.  (150 seeds)
Red Ruble – fabulous dark wine-red serrated leaves full of tasty goodness. This baby leaf kale can be grown and enjoyed all year round. (100 seeds)
