It’s time to get growing delicious carrots

 

Sow this early trio in February and you’ll be setting yourself up for sweet, crunchy roots as soon as the season gets going. Make the most of cloches to help warm the soil, or find a bit of space in a cold frame for an early start. If you can only sow outdoors, don’t worry, your seeds will be ready to grow as soon as the weather warms up. Either way, you’ll be off to a great start.

 

Carrot Karotella – always a pleasure to grow and eat. These smooth, cylindrical roots can reach around 20cm long and are reliably crunchy and sweet. 

Carrot Marion F1 – these are tender carrots with a super-sweet flavour straight from the garden. Neat, cylindrical roots grow to around 15cm. An AGM-winning variety and a real early-season favourite.

Paris Market Atlas – a fun and very practical carrot with almost round, tasty roots. Ideal for shallow soils and perfect for growing in pots. A February sowing can be ready to pull from May.
