Tendersweet F1 is a wonderfully adaptable cabbage, ideal for fresh eating. The thin, crunchy-yet-tender leaves make it perfect for coleslaw, wraps, or a quick stir fry. It’s a great all-rounder, cropping in spring, summer, or autumn.
SOW: from March to August, 10mm deep in modules, pots, or a prepared seed bed. You can also direct sow. For a steady supply, sow in batches every 2–3 weeks to stagger your harvests.
GROW: transplant when seedlings reach 6–8cm tall, spacing plants 25–30cm apart. Bury them up to the first set of true leaves. In hot summer weather, a part-shaded spot helps prevent stress.
Harvest heads when they’re plump and firm, usually around 10 weeks from sowing. Don’t leave them too long—if rain follows a dry spell, the sudden burst of growth can cause heads to split. Regular, light watering is better than heavy soakings.
ENJOY:
- Shred for coleslaw
- Use whole leaves as wraps
- Lightly cook—perfect for stir fries
