New varieties are always exciting, and we’re delighted to share six fresh choices joining our range this October. From a welcome addition to our Wildlife-Friendly selection to an outstanding new parsnip and more besides, there’s plenty to look forward to. Your garden adventure with new flavours and discoveries starts here, with one packet each of…

Carrot Oxhella – flavourful & aromatic, broad shoulders and chunky roots 12-16cm long, well suited to heavy or shallower soil (raised beds & containers) and it stores very well if you haven’t munched them all whilst fresh from the garden! (150 seeds)

Kale Thousandhead – smooth leaves, ruffled at the edges, delicious, hardy and prolific heirloom. This is not a true perennial but it can last for a couple of years with regular picking(12 seeds)

Lavatera trimestris Mont Blanc – this variety is particularly good for pollinators, especially bees and those super aphid munching detritivore hoverflies!  You will enjoy the garden benefits this brings as well as the white trumpet blooms that light up your garden in the sun and moonlight.  (50 seeds)

Parsnip Aromata – unique, slim, aromatic, mild & sweet, crisp & tender. This variety is so moorish it can be eaten raw…think coleslaw and remoulade.  They roast beautifully too or can be served as a mash.  Flavour pairings to think about are bacon, marmite (a match made in heaven), blue cheese, cumin for starters (60 seeds)

Spring Onion Marksman – delicious British bred variety, disease resistant, top choice for later sowing and super right through from the spring. (100 seeds)

Tomato Rubinka – long trusses of 30 or more delicious tangy red cherry fruits.  These are perfect for snacking or turning into sun-dried toms. (12 seeds)

Oh, and if you were wondering, a detritivore is one of nature’s recyclers, turning waste into nutrients to feed your soil and plants!
