Now for something completely different: an endive that can develop bright red stems to provide a wonderful colour contrast to the dark green leaves for a tasty, vibrant addition to your salads. Grow this variety from early spring or in the autumn, one not to miss. Price for 40 seeds.
SOW: all year round for cut and come again. Start in situ or in modules. Spring and summer sowings should be planted outside. For winter use: sow and grow under cover. Germination is sometimes erratic in hot weather.
GROW: space single plants 20-25cm apart. Cut and leave to resprout or take out the whole plant (about 7-9 weeks from sowing) and replace with a younger one. Keep watered. This variety should not be blanched or you will lose the stem colour.
