The stalks are yellow to green and if you block plant they will self-blanch. This is an early variety and can be harvested from the beginning of August. It is a lovely addition to your salads. Sow from early to mid-spring. Price for 50 seeds
SOW: in early spring in a propagator or mid spring under cover. The seeds need light to germinate and must be sown on the surface.
GROW: prick out into small pots when large enough to handle. Plant at 5/6 leaf stage after hardening off and all danger of frost has passed. Planting in a block at 15cm spacing allows them to self-blanch. This type of celery is shallow rooted and will appreciate regular watering and a feed. Ready to start cutting about 16 weeks after sowing.
EAT: lovely raw, this yellow-green celery can also be cooked. Celery that has been frozen is a lovely addition to winter casseroles.
