This lovely salad tomato comes from the coastal area of Spain between Valencia and Barcelona. It is said that the salty atmosphere is part of the flavour - we haven’t tried spraying with salt water and they taste just fine. It is also known as a hanging tom or winter berry as you can gather the trusses or stems and hang them in a cool dry place and the tomatoes can keep fresh for many weeks (lasting into the early winter). You can eat as a salad tom but you can also roast, grill and fry them to bring out their rich flavour. Indeterminate
SOW: Start about 6-8 weeks before the last frost is expected sowing in modules (cover or put on a windowsill). Transplant to pots and grow on before hardening off & planting.
If you have a garden that is affected by salt from the coast this is a must have variety
Being indeterminate Decolgar will bloom, set new fruit and ripen fruit all at the same time throughout the season.
