SOW: autumn sow for winter leaves, sow in spring and summer for a continuous supply through the year. Sow in situ or pots to transplant, seed depth 10-25mm.
GROW: plant out at 15cm spacing and start harvesting when the leaves reach a usable. Pick carefully as the stems and roots are easily damaged. Alternatively pull up the whole plant and either replace with a later transplant or leave the wider spacing to allow remaining plants to grow to full size – Banjo is both quick growing & upright.
EAT: we use small leaves as a tasty addition to salads. Steam whole leaves from mature plants, slicing them after cooking, season and serve.
