Slower growing Acadia is an ideal choice for sowing for a summer crop, from 40 days as a baby leaf or allow to grow on for a mature richly flavoured leaves.  These are oval, smooth edged and slightly bubbled produced on upright plants so minimal soil splash.  Acadia is resistant to downy mildew so cool damp UK weather conditions are not a worry!

Price for 50 seeds

This variety is part of our naturally nurtured range, the seed comes from an organic source

SOW: from mid to late April to end of June & again in September.  Seed depth 15-25mm in pots or modules which minimise root disturbance when you transplant, plan to sow some spinach every 2-4 weeks.  Can be sown in situ in warm soil.

GROW: close space for baby leaves, treated as cut-&-come-again they will resprout several times.  Plant at 20-25cm spacing for mature leaves, these plants can be pulled up to harvest and replaced with a later transplant.

EAT: although Acadia is upright you should always wash the leaves first.  Use small leaves raw in salads or make a smoothie.  Wash, shake off then lightly cook mature leaves without adding any more water, slicing them after cooking, season and serve:- enjoy with eggs, add to quiche or stews or stir into a lovely curry.
