SOW: at any time, protection needed from late autumn to early spring. At these times it can be grown in a cool greenhouse, cold frame or under cloches. Sow in modules (you can then space plants out) or sow thinly in situ.
GROW: keep watered, Esmee is a vigorous grower, ready for the first cut just 3-4 weeks from sowing. Picking frequently encourages new growth. You can treat it as cut and come again – cutting about 3cm above the ground.
