Small Sugar has smooth, sweetly flavoured flesh which make this a top choice for cooking and baking. It stores well or can be frozen. This heirloom matures in 12-15 weeks, each fruit can weigh 2-3kg. Price for 3 seeds.
Sow your pumpkin seeds in April or May, about a month before the last frost is expected. Harden them off before planting outside, you can help them settle in with a cloche. During August you can pinch off all the blooms to concentrate the plant's energy on the developing pumpkins. Keep an eye on the weather in the autumn: cold weather can damage pumpkins so they should be harvested before the first frost. Cut the stem with a sharp knife, leaving a 7-10cm length: if this stem breaks off, use the fruit as soon as possible, since this causes the pumpkin to spoil quickly. Cure your pumpkins in the sun or a dry location until the stem shrivels and don’t wash pumpkins you intend to store. Small Sugar stores well for up to 5 months
