Pepper Corno Di Toro Giallo

£0.60 / pack(s)

This heirloom ‘Yellow Horn of the Bull’ is far less common than the red variety. Each Corno Di Toro Giallo fruit can be up to 20cm long by 5cm across the shoulder. Initially growing green they start to turn to a rich golden yellow after 8-10 weeks.  They are very sweet with thin skins and thick walls making them ideal to stuff, fry or grill. Slice or dice raw for a bright, succulent and tasty addition to a salad.          Price for 10 seeds

SOW: start by sowing indoors or under glass in March/April.  Corono Di Toro Giallo likes to be grown with protection (greenhouse or conservatory) although in warmer areas you can try planting out in a sheltered sunny spot after about 8 weeks but delay planting ‘til frost risk has passed.

GROWthese are sturdy strong growing plants.  Plant out into a rich soil or use a growbag (3 plants per bag) or grow in containers.  Containers that you can move are useful as your plants will continue to grow into the autumn when you will need to protect them from frost: move into a more sheltered place or wrap with fleece if frost is likely

EAT: traditionally these are fried in olive oil to bring out the flavour but you can grill them or stuff and bake them.  Don’t forget to add them to salads too.
