Oriental Mustard Leaf Green Wave naturally nurtured seed

£0.60

Every leaf of Green Wave is has heavily curled wavy edges.  These fresh vibrant green leaves have a spicy flavour – pick them young to add a peppery tang to your salads (from about 3 weeks).  For a stronger flavour let the leaves mature and then cook them (at about 7 weeks).  Even the flowering shoots can be used making this a versatile choice.   Price for 50 seeds

SOW: from spring to autumn.  Starting the seeds in modules enables you to transplant at the 2/3 leaf stage; for really good crops in winter transplant under cover

GROW: space at 10cm for little leaves but this plant can reach 40-45cm tall and will need at least 30cm spacing to do this.  Close space some for salad use (the closer spacing creates longer petioles) and then plant some at a wider distance to grow to full size.   Keep watered in very dry weather.  Overwinter a late sowing of Green Wave and enjoy fresh greens early in the spring

EAT: the young leaves are great in salad mixes adding a peppery tang.  Medium sized leaves can be used as wraps (in place of tortillas), while larger leaves are best cooked.  Any flowering shoots can be cut and treated like you would broccoli.
