The name may not be poetically inspiring but the fruit certainly is. Emerald green flesh is superbly sweet with a delightful aroma. This variety is well worth pampering for your future enjoyment. It is best grown with protection – one for the greenhouse.
Price for 4 seeds.
SOW: in February or March, one seed per pot, water, cover with polythene and keep at about 18°C until germinated. Uncover and grow on in a warm spot until they have 4 proper leaves. Sow in April if you can keep them frost free in the autumn.
GROW: pamper these with the warmth of the sun through glass - best planted in the greenhouse or polytunnel or in a grow bag in a conservatory. They like a rich, moist & warm soil. After mid-summer remove flowers & the smallest fruit to concentrate the growth into the larger ones
EAT: pick when they turn from pale green to a creamy colour with a slightly gold hue. It should part easily from the stem and the blossom end will be slightly soft.
