Lettuce Blonde De Paris (batavian) naturally nurtured seed

No prizes given for guessing that Blonde de Paris is an heirloom from France.  No prizes for guessing that it has joined our range because this bright green and crinkled leaf beauty is both sweet and crisp.  It is a Batavian type – mild, germinates well in warm weather, slow to bolt, looks like a round lettuce with a crunch and it can be used in a salad or cooked!  The prize is the reward you get to eat after growing your own!!

Price for 75 seeds

This variety is part of our naturally nurtured range, the seed comes from an organic source

SOW: from March to May, or February in a greenhouse and for baby leaves sow May to August.  These can be started in modules and transplanted or sown in situ, seed depth 3-5mm.  Sowing a little seed every 4 weeks will give you a succession of these lettuces.

GROW: allow 20-30cm for heated, closer for baby leaves in the height of summer which you can treat as cut-&-come-again.  Grow them around taller veggies such as sprouts.

EAT: perfect in a sandwich, shred with red cabbage and onion for a crunchy feast, with burgers in buns, as a leafy base for a serving of curry…this variety can also be steamed or stir-fried for a short time!
