GROW: plant out at 4/5 leaf stage and watch out for slugs. Keep watered (they like moist rich soil) and mulch if possible. It is traditional but not essential to earth up when the bulb starts to swell. If you cut te bulbs 2.5cm above ground the roots resprout to give small tasty shoots that are delicious in salads. EAT: You can eat the bulbs and stems raw like celery or remove the outer leaves then steam, boil, grill or roast. You can also serve as a mini vegetable if harvested early
