Orange Koral packs a mighty punch of heat in a cherry sized package so watch out as they are 25,000-40,000 SHU. These can be early maturing, ripening from dark green to an orange-yellow shade. You can harvest at any stage but for the maximum heat wait for that colour change. These fruits are suitable for enjoying fresh, for drying and for use in pickles – one added to a jar of pickled gerkins adds a nice warmly hot flavour…add more for more heat!
Price for 10 seeds
SOW: from February to May, indoors in a warm soil in trays or modules barely covering the seeds as they need light to germinate.
GROW: when they are ready to plant aim for the root ball to be about 10mm below the new surface.
The heat level depends on a combination of factors – light and warmth, growing conditions, watering and feeding and finally the ripeness of the fruit. Generally riper fruits later in the season will have developed more heat.
