This lovely curved chilli, growing 4-12cm long, comes from northern Spain. Pick it green for the mildest flavour, as it matures it will be more pungent but even when fully ripe it remains at a medium heat (7000-12500 Scoville) with a sweet flavour – try Guidilla Roja fried with garlic, gorgeous. Price for 10 seeds.

SOW: from mid-April to end of May, indoors in a warm soil in trays or modules barely covering the seeds as they need light to germinate.

GROW: when they reach the 2/3 leaf stage they can be planted into a greenhouse or hardened off and put outside in a warm sheltered spot.  You can grow them in the soil, a container or in a grow bag.  Chillies will be produced until the first frosts.

EAT: pick this variety when green for the mildest flavour, as it matures it will be more pungent but even when fully ripe it remains at a medium heat with a sweet flavour – try this fried with garlic, gorgeous
