Celeriac Asterix F1

£1.75 / pack(s)

Perfect for oven roasting, making chips, mashing, stews and soups this variety features large round roots with delicious white flesh.  These will store well from their autumn harvest.  Price for 50 seeds.

SOW & GROW: in February or March start in a seed tray & surface sow then cover very lightly or wait & gently cover after germinating.  Be patient as germination can be slow.  Prick out into modules when large enough to do so to grow strong young plants. Transplant 40cm apart on a cool damp day, with the base of the stem at, or just above, ground level and water in.  Keep watered in dry weather (they love water) and mulch if possible.  It will enjoy a weekly liquid fertiliser!  Remove aging leaves to expose the swelling root.

EAT: perfect for oven roasting, making chips, mashing, stews and soups: Asterix can be lifted in October.   To store trim off the roots and leaves and keep in a cool, dry frost free place for 2-3 months.  You can also freeze your celeriac crop.

CELERIC CHIPS

Peel (or cut off the skin) and slice into wedges or chips that are the size you would make with potatoes… plan on wonky shapes as celeriac is not easy to cut perfectly!  For oven backing spray a baking sheet and spread out your celeriac, scatter with herbs or spices (celeriac chips have quite a delicate flavour so go easy) and cook at 180° for 45-50 minutes
