Royal Chantenay is a good choice if you have a heavier soil. This variety combines a sweet, crisp flavour with shallow growth and good storage ability. The tops are strong and enable you to give them a good yank!
Price for 150 seeds
SOW: at no more than 10mm seep from May to July, with harvesting from June to October. Remember to well & sow sparingly to avoid the need for too much thinning.
GROW: their shallow growth makes them a good choice for container growing. Keep moist and weed free – they don’t like the competition.
EAT: enjoy the flavour when pulled fresh. They can be stored in a poly bag in the fridge for up to 2 weeks. Freeze: slice/dice larger carrots, freeze baby carrots whole, blanch for 3 minutes, plunge in cold water, drain and pack into handy potions.
