Cabbage Danny Boy F1

Danny Boy is a perfect variety to take you from summer to autumn, the big outer leaves shelter tasty hearts of creamy-green.  This variety, not widely available, holds well in the garden and is a good choice for storing into the winter.  Price for 20 seeds.

SOW: sow 10-15mm deep with protection in February and March.  From mid-March to May you can sow in a seedbed (although we tend to use modules).

GROW: when large enough to handle (after 6-8 weeks) harden off and plant out.  Danny Boy can grow heads to 2kg and needs a bit of space – aim to set plants 50-60cm apart.  From transplanting heads are ready to start cropping after about 11 more weeks.  Your earliest sowing could be ready from early July and you last cabbages could be cut in early November.

EAT: these tasty white cabbages are lovely fresh; they hold well in the garden until you are ready for them. They can be stored in a cool frost-free place into the winter.
