Grote Noord Hollandse is a Dutch heirloom that will provide you with vitamin rich spoon-shaped leaves from late autumn through the winter. Either pick the rich green leaves or blanch them first by placing a pot or box over the plant for a few days before cutting. Use for winter salads or cook like spring greens. This variety is quite frost hardy but can be happier with an open-ended cloche to give protection from soggy weather; you can also grow in a cold-frame or greenhouse. There is also the option of early sowing for a spring crop.
