Katrin is a superb open pollinated choice. The roots reach about 12cm long, nice and plump with blunt ends, easy to scrub or peel. They have a really good flavour: they taste of carrots as we remember them! They can be harvested through the summer and autumn. Price for 150 seeds.
SOW: best sown April to July. Remember to dig the soil thoroughly. Sow sparingly to avoid the need for too much thinning. Sowing after late June can help your crop to avoid the worst of the carrot fly.
GROW: keep carrots moist and weed free – they don’t like the competition. Harvest is June to November: an early sowing can be ready from June; later sowings will take a bit longer and your last pull could be in November.
EAT: Katrin have a really good flavour: they taste of carrots as we remember them! They are quick and easy to prepare; you may only need to give them a good wash or quick scrub. All our carrots freeze well
