This is also green but it is distinguished by its thicker leaves and sweeter flavour making this the best variety for adding to salads: perhaps think of it as somewhere halfway between a vegetable and a fresh herb. They have a slightly succulent texture and mix well with other greens and they go particularly well with tomatoes: very popular here in salad with spaghetti bolognaise & lasagne! Price for 50 seeds.

A unique veg: when these grow you might think they look lettuce like with bright green ruffled leaves, they certainly go well in salads sweet and crunchy, but they will hold their own in cooked dishes too (sauté, stir fry, steam, braise or soups). It has grown well in a less than perfect summer and will provide fresh greens through the winter with protection. Cut as a baby leaf after 3-4 weeks (will resprout), or leave to grow on and take outer leaves for cooking while the heads develop. Price for 50 seeds
