SQUASH AUSTRALIAN BUTTER ~ this is a wonderful heirloom with deep orange flesh perfect for baking or roasting & salmon pink skin to catch the eye in the garden
SOW: between late April to end of May, start 1 seed per pot or module
GROW: keep moist but not waterlogged. Harden off and plant out after all danger of frost has passed. In cooler areas you can protect young plants with cloches until they have settled in. After harvest leave them outdoors for about 14 days to harden the deep green skin for storing (protect from frost) or ripen in a greenhouse.
EAT: We think that this is a particularly good choice for baking or roasting (pop pieces in the oven with potatoes and parsnips, sprinkle with olive oil and herbs… yum!)
