Wine red leaves are held on long green stems (it makes cutting as a baby leaf easier). Leaves, stems and flowers are all tasty with consistent quality and a mild flavour perfect for creating colourful salads or indeed for cooking. Price for 50 seeds.
SOW & GROW: from June to September, traditionally after the longest day. You can sow in modules and plant out when young, or sow in situ and use the thinnings in salads or replant them in cooler weather. Space plants at 20-25cm to grow into compact heads. For cut-&-come-again grow closer together. The last sowing can be 6 weeks before frosts are expected however protect from inclement autumn weather with cloches. For baby leaves simply grow in a seed tray & snip for salad.
