Huge selection of seeds you can sow in April....

Sow Outside:  in mild areas: be prepared to protect during unpredictable weather!

Artichokes, Asparagus Peas, Beetroot, Broad Beans, Broccoli Raab, Sprouting Broccoli, Cabbages, Calabrese, Carrots, Cauliflowers, Chicory (Witloof), Collards, Corn salad, Endive, Kale, Kohl Rabi, Land Cress, Leaf Beet, Leeks, Lettuce, Spring onions, Orache, Parsley, Parsnip, Peas, Radish, Rhubarb, Rocket, Salsify, Scozonera, Spinach, Swede, Texel Greens, Turnips

 

To grow and use as Cut-&-come-again:  Cress, Endive(Curly), Kale, Komatsuna, Lettuce, Mizuna, Okahijiki, Orache, Pak Choi , Purslanes, Rocket, Senposai, Spinach, Sugar Loaf Chicory, Texel Greens

 

Sow with cover: (cloches, cold frames, polytunnel & unheated greenhouses – you may well need fleece for the cold nights for extra protection). 

Beetroot,  Dwarf Beans,  Broccoli, Brussels Sprouts, Cabbage, Carrots, Cape Gooseberry, Cauliflowers, Celery, Celeriac, Florence Fennel, Leeks, Lettuce, Onions, Orache, Winter & Summer Purslane

 

Near the end of the month in milder areas it is possible to start Runner Beans, Courgettes, Cucumbers, Marrows, Sweet Corn and Tomatoes (none will be happy if caught by a late frost!) and also Chicory & Purslane

 

Sow In warmth: we don’t use propagators ourselves but we do sow indoors to start these off

April Flower Guide

 

April is one of the best months to sow a huge variety of flowers.  Take a look and be tempted to add colour, nectar and scent to your garden, choose some for eating, others for cutting whilst many will encourage pollinators to visit your plot.
